When you say "main grid" are you referring to the name list?

Above the main data grid, there's an Options button. Click it and get
a list of things you can do. Choose Customize columns and you'll see a
dialog in which you can choose which columns you can have displayed in
*your* version of the Index Tab.
Once you've organised the display the way you want it, clicking on a
column header allows you to sort the display by the data in that column.
