William:

In Outlook Express, select a name in your address book, then right click on the name, next right click on Properties, in the properties window, select the Name tab. In the lower left hand corner, place a check in Send E-mail using plain text only box. Now select OK and you are good to go.

I'm using an old version of Outlook (2000) and never upgraded because the
current Microsoft offering stinks. I was wondering if I could do that, but
probably not in this old version.

I don't use Outlook myself, but I'm sure you'll find there's a setting
for making all mails to a particular address (the LUG one in this case)
Plain Text.
