As a rule I backup everytime I exit Legacy, and am glad the program prompts you to. I'm also happy about the File Repair feature, which along with the instructions on the specific error, solved the issue.
I remain a little puzzled why some settings (such as the headers in the Index View) reverted to their defaults after the power outage, but these are minor compared to the potential of a corrupted database. Fortunately, that turned out to not be the case for me. The battery idea is a good one ... I may look into that.
