Elizabeth,

I have checked the methods using Legacy Basic. It is correct that you cannot
use Source Writer in the Basic version and you are actually using Basic
Sourcing. Actually, for what you are doing this does not matter.

The result which you got when trying to use the copy button on the Assigned
Sources Screen is also accurate, you cannot copy to the Source Clipboard
from that screen in the Basic version.

I have checked the method which I gave, and which does not use the Library
Book Icon, using the Basic version, this does work in Legacy Basic. I
suggest that you try it.

Mike, Wendy, Brett, Ron, others.....

I think I see the problem.......

I followed what you all said to do but when I get to..... "Below that is a
conventional copy button that says it will Copy Source To Clipboard. Hit it
and the selected source will be copied to the Source Clipboard"........it
just opens a window that says that is a Deluxe Feature Only."

I use the free version and cannot upgrade.
[Note: My husband does not allow me to spend any finances on my genealogy
interests. We are senior citizens living on his Soc. Sec. and I "AM OK" with
that. I understand and it does not bother me....and I am 'not' looking for a
handout. He willingly helps me copy things down whenever we have an
opportunity to go to a library, Historical Society, etc. I just wanted to
explain the reason I cannot upgrade before someone suggests I upgrade.]

Is there some other way to do what you suggest but in the free version??

Close :-)

>From the Assigned Sources window, select the "Name" event that you
added the source for. The details should show at the bottom of the
window with an * in each tab that has data. You have now selected the
source.

Just to the left of the source information tabs, there is another blue
up-arrow button that will also open the Source Clipboard. Underneath the
up-arrow is another blue '-' button. Hover the mouse over it and see
what it says. Below that is a conventional copy button that says it will
Copy Source To Clipboard. Hit it and the selected source will be copied
to the Source Clipboard.

You can then check by opening the clipboard.
