Can't speak for others, but I don't.  I do the same as you, putting
March Q 1841 as the date until I know something more precise.  I am
aware that sometimes an event occurs in one quarter and is registered in
the next (which might even be the following year) but I expect anyone to
whom I pass on my information will also be aware of that.
