Thanks Jenny, but in your example I can't search Mary in the index and get Jane
Mary...  I tried a * wildcard, which did nothing.  Just got an idea and
searched   "   then   '   and got only the first instance, "  , and it won't go
to the next,  so that didn't work either.

Ex: (Same as your Jane Mary) - Henry Roy was known only as Roy; Dora Oral was
Oral...  I'm entering scattered info;what I want to dois just locate them in
the index so I can see their family.

If a person is known by any name which is not the first given name, you
should enter their full Forename as follows:

Jane Mary "Mary" or Henry "Hal".

In Reports you can choose to Use Quoted Name for Narratives and Remove
Quoted Given Names so you report might read Jane Mary Doe was born ....
Mary married ..."

You can search for these people by using the Detailed Search and
selecting Given Names / Contains / "Mary" or Given Names / Contains / "Hal".
