I would think that using the backup/restore functionality is the only proper
way to 'manually copy' data between two systems, particularly because of these
associated files. When I do a restore of a zip file, in addition to the .fdb
file, I get five others with the .fsd, .nc, .tc, .rc3, and .rgd extensions. If
you just copied the .fdb file, would you not have an .fdb file that was out of
sync with these others?

I guess I don't understand why anyone would take the shortcut of copying just
the .fdb file. Backup/Restore is really simple. On computer 1, do File -->
Backup to flash drive (or other removable media), then File --> Restore on
computer 2. As fast as (or almost as fast as) copying the .fdb file by itself,
and you get a full restore.

Paul

You have been using the File > Backup Family file. That is the command that
makes a backup of your file (and some associated files) as a .zip file in a
compressed format.
