Paul, In support of Ron Ferguson's comment below, remember that there are certain Genealogical Standards that should be adhered to, however, beyond that it is your research and you should do that which you are most comfortable with and produces your desired results. I live in the United States and have traced my ancestors back to Germany, England, France, Scotland, and Ireland where the 4 field convention is no longer applicable nor is it desirable.
The bottom line is to do that with which *you* are the most comfortable and to achieve *your* desired results.
