Tom,
I just re-read your message about how you "back up using a separate programme".
You should use the built-in backup of Legacy which will produce 2 zip
files...one for the data structures and one for linked media files.  Then you
can use your separate program to store those backups elsewhere if you wish.
The important thing that you will miss is the ability to "Restore" a Legacy
backup data zip file.  The zip file contains more than the fdb file.  The
Legacy backup gathers all the various pieces of a given database into the data
zip file and the zip technology compresses that to make it smaller.  A zipped
file will not open unless it is intact so a corrupted zip file won't work.
That gives some degree of integrity to the zip file.  The media zip backup is
un-zipped by regular Windows utilities.

Tom,
Several people have reported a possible problem with their file after an
update.  The common recommendation is to download the full standard free
version and install it over the previous program.  If you have deluxe, the
installer will find your license and authorize it again.  Then "Restore" your
most recent backup.  Hope that works for you.

Hi Ron,
Not really sure, but I only bought it about a month ago so it should be the
latest version.
I back up using a separate programme and onto a separate drive completely.
Thanks

What version was used to make your most recent backup of your Legacy database?

Hello,
I have Legacy 8 Deluxe and have just downloaded the latest update.
It caused my computer to crash and now I cannot open Legacy at all.
It says it is an “unrecognised database format”. Any ideas on how to fix this
please?
Thanks.
