Then you use placeholders for their parents and grandparents.

Since it seems likely that their fathers, at least, had the surname of Smith, 
you enter something like N.N. Smith for the father of one, and Mrs N.N. Smith 
for his wife. And N.M. Smith for the parents of the other, and Mrs N.M./ 
Smith as his wife. And for the parents of those two smiths you put Grandpa 
Smith and Grandma Smith. 

And then, voila! David and Simon are cousins. 

And when you do find the real names, you substitute them for the placeholder 
names.
