Ian,
Your issue of the sibling list containing both siblings and children
(which is a problem only for females by the way) is a known issue with
Legacy 9.0. According to the problem tracking system this will be fixed
in the next update.

Checking names, I have no duplicates - everything appears normal.
In the last 36 hours, I was editing some information for this part of
the family. What I describe MAY have occurred if the right-click popup
window was for the wrong person, and I didn’t notice that. I have screen
capture images of the problem (which I can’t correct). My solution was
to open a previous backup, for which the problem isn’t showing.
I have reported this to Millennia, but I’m not sure it has the same
cause as your observations. I’ll let them consider it.

Using the new version, in the family view, I’ve found, at least in my
case, what may be an issue. Wondering if anyone else had had this?
For example, using a wife for whom I never had parents before, when I
right click on the “add father” or “add mother” - the window that opens
is the individual view of the person I am trying to add the parents to.
Same issue – if I have the parents’ names already in place and I right
click on the name of either one, a pop-up allows me to click “edit the
father” or “edit the mother”. When clicking on either choice, the
individual view for the child (not either parent) opens for editing
purposes.
I wasn’t this way in ver. 8.
Anybody else experiencing “right-click” issues?
