Robert,

You cannot do what you want in Legacy, although there are quite a few things
you _can_ do. I used FrontPage, which comes with Windows on my Tree.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Web Page Creation Questions

| My research is far enough along so that I am now interested in creating
| a web page. I have been experimenting with the Legacy web page creation
| utility and I am very impressed with the output. However, there are a
| few things that I would like to customize and have no idea how to go
| about it.
|
| The first thing I would like to do differently is to have two
| photographs on the title page, side by side, with captions. Besides two
| photographs, with captions, and the title, the only other thing I would
| like on that page is a counter and an enter button to take the viewer to
| an expanded introduction page. On the introduction page, I would like
| to provide an overview of each of my lines, along with a status report
| on my research for each line. At the bottom of this introduction page
| would be the links normally provided by Legacy for on its title page
| (Table of Contents and Contact Information). From that point on,
| everything is per the Legacy web page creation utility.
|
| Is there a way to accomplish what I want to do through Legacy or do I
| have to utilize a third party html editor? If the latter, does anyone
| have any recommendations? (I seem to recall from a discussion thread
| about a year ago that CoffeeCup was recommended. Would the steamlined
| free CoffeeCup HTML be adequate?) Is Version 4 going to have any web
| page creation enhancements so that I if I waited for its release I
| wouldn't have to worry about a third party html editor? If I have to
| resort to a third party html editor, how do I incorporate the output
| from the Legacy web page creation utility?
|
| In that previously mentioned thread about web pages, I recall that many
| provided links to their web sites and that many seem to have customized
| the Legacy output. I'm hoping that those who have proven themselves
| adept at this can lend me a hand. The simpler the better. I would
| rather be doing research than learning html editing.
