I don't think anyone said it couldn't be done. It's probably a question of
performance, especially in large databases.

Not being flip, but please name a few that use SQL to allow a global search
across all columns in all tables. I ask because I can't think of any. I'm not
saying there aren't any, I just can't think of any.
