I suppose these last two responses were inevitable as well. If no-one agrees then resort to insults!
Having been in IT for many years and loved the advances of technology for most of them, it suddenly dawned on me that most people want software for what it will do for them, rather than how it looks and how many techie gizmos can be added. I'm sure the screens could be made "prettier" and more modern looking (we could also have pop-up ads and flashing warnings), but what would that achieve. Would it improve the way we can view, search and add data or give better ways to produce reports, web pages etc? As far as I'm concerned the system is just what it tries to be - an excellent system to record and display family history, however you want to do it. One motto we had in my last job when designing new software was KISS - Keep It Simple, Stupid. That improved functionality, maintainability and reliability - but it sure as heck upset the techies. It also improved sales! Jack "I suppose the responses were inevitable. After all, living the past is an occupational hazard for some genealogists!
