When I go to the family of the children, (that is, the mother and father) the kids are listed twice, once each with a 1/2. The word adopted is not showing. Am I doing something wrong/

A child can have 2 sets of parents. In the event of an adoption the word adopted appears in parentheses after the child's name. Nothing of children.

That is the way it worked for me, and boy do I wish I could change it!
AND I put in the original father (second husband adopted first one's children) just for completeness' sake, and he still comes up when I click on the family even though the second one is the preferred. If you figure out how to get the kids to show up only once, please let me know.

I've not had to enter an adoptive parent before and it's not as simple as I expected. Here is the situation, which would seem to be a common one. A & B have children (in my case, out of wedlock, but that shouldn't make any difference except for the wording of their relationship). B subsequently marries C and C adopts B's children by A.

To set this up, I entered A as father and B as mother. I then entered their children. I then brought up a child in the family view, right clicked, and chose add parents, since the option to add just an alternative father is grayed out. It seems I am forced to add B again and her husband C as new parents. The result in the family view for A and B or C and B is that the children are shown twice, with the second entry showing they are a half child by the other male. I doubt this is the way it is supposed to work.

Could someone walk me through how you add the adoptive parent C? Thanks.
