That is why I now have changed Sweden to Sverige, Norway to Norge, etc.
Hopefully my american relatives
can figure it out.

Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Locations, commas - good news for the future

        While we're talking about locations...

I have an occasional requirement to omit the country from
locations written to GEDCOM. This is for when I submit data
to the Swedish matching service DISBYT. Their matching
software is totally confused by "Sweden", since it is
something else in Swedish. Easiest is to just leave it off
for the submission. Last time I did a bulk delete (on a
copy of my file) of ", Sweden" out of locations, but missed
a few, and it took a while. It occurred to me that *if* I
could export short location names to GEDCOM, I could take
off the country name in the short versions of Swedish
locations "once and for all". Or there might be some other
way to handle it - any ideas?
