While certainly the Legacy folks will need to address the on-going issue on
their end, I found it much more satisfying to let Adobe know of my concerns
for their installation and compatibility with other programs.

Hi Sherry,

About the non-compatibility issue between Acrobat Reader v.7 and pdf files
created with Legacy...

It has been suggested [by Jon Raymond - see below, ... Thanks Jon] to
uninstall all previous versions of Acrobat Reader before installing version
7...
Just a note to let you know, in my case this was done first. I did
un-install all previous versions of Acrobat Reader, then installed version
7. Then tried viewing the pdf files created with Legacy.

The pdf files created with Legacy did not work with the new Acrobat Reader
v.7. However, the pdf files created with other programs such as
OpenOffice.org or Microsoft Word do work with Acrobat Reader v.7.

One of my concerns, other than not personally being able to view pdf reports
I have generated with Legacy myself, is that neither can anyone else I have
ever given these reports to if they have upgraded to the new Acrobat Reader
v.7. These people will suddenly find that all the Legacy generated pdf files
(reports) I have ever given to them in the past suddenly no longer are
viewable, even though other pdf files they have may well be. They could find
themselves scratching their heads and wondering what happened to these
particular files.

Thanks for the quick response, Sherry. I'm sure the wonderful programmers
there at Legacy will get the issue resolved in a timely matter and I'll will
be patiently cheering them on. Merry Christmas to all.

When I downloaded v6, Adobe recommended first uninstalling ***all***
earlier versions. Could v7 carry the same recommendation?

Hi Dan,

Oh! I didn't know there was a v7 out now. I quickly dumped v6 because it
was so slow and added that printing thing that I had no use for. Legacy pdf
files have had no problems with Reader v5 or 6.

I just downloaded the basic version of the Reader, thinking if there were
problems, they might tied to some of the other options. There definitely
was a problem viewing the files. Not all of them, though. Some I could open
in v7, but others I couldn't. Interesting that the file name showed as did
the properties of the file.

I've let the programmers know there's a problem with the latest version. I
*don't* know how soon they'll be able to update the generator, however. I
doubt by the next update, however, as I'm sure the users wouldn't want the
update delayed any longer than it already has been.

In the meantime, if you haven't already updated to Acrobat Reader v7,
*don't*!!!!

Thanks for using Legacy.

Sherry
