Even scarier yet, Steve, since I would assume that the only reason for having a Notes font option is because one DIDN'T want to use the Data font for Notes!
When an option is simply labeled "Notes", one should be able to assume that it applies to ALL Notes fields, shouldn't one? If anyone cares, "Event Note" fonts are controlled by the "Data" font option. This seems like a case of just what I replied previously concerning program options in Legacy, that it is "necessary to test every single one of them because we cannot assume that they actually work in any specific situation, much less all the time". And, even scarier, options that are fixed in one release often revert to being broken again in the next release. It works for me. I invite you to see the output here: http://home.comcast.net/~ssilverm/legacy.html these are screen captures of the print preview, the best I can do short of mailing the printout to you... However, after others replied that my suggestion didn't work, I did create Notes fields with columns of data, using Courier New as the font for both the screen display and the reports (just as you indicate) in order to test the issue. I have to agree with the others -- it simply DOES NOT WORK and the selected Notes font is ignored. I tried the Individual Report, Family Group Sheet, and Descendant Book reports. My Notes field that appeared on screen in Courier New columns showed in all the reports as unaligned Times New Roman. On the "Options for Individual Reports" screen, click on the Fonts tab. Next, click on the Notes button and select courier. Works for me and several different reports, what report does it not work for? What I had failed to do was to actually test this by creating the reports using a fixed pitch font for Notes. Even though Courier is specified as the font for Notes in the report options, that is ignored and Legacy creates reports using, in my case, Times New Roman for the Notes, which naturally destroys the formatting of the Courier used for the Notes on the data-entry screen. This appears to be yet another case of a Legacy program option that does absolutely nothing, making it necessary to test every single one of them because we cannot assume that they actually work in any specific situation, much less all the time. Judging from some of the threads posted here, every release of Legacy appears to be a public beta test -- some of the reported problems are fixed immediately (way to go!) and others are ignored forever (boo, hiss!). If your printout came out skewed, I'm sure you mis-counted. I didn't actually try that before responding, since I don't have any notes formatted in columns. I did test it now, but apparently even though the Courier font is used on the screen, the reports don't use Courier even when that is specified as the font for Notes on reports. I have no idea why not.
