Good Morning Everyone and Sherry,
In reply to Jan, see below, you advised that she <do a backup of the Family
File and then burn that backup over to the CD>.
When I close Legacy and am asked if I want to make a backup, I say yes and
then choose to backup to a CD rather than to my hard drive. Why is that not
an acceptable practice? After reading this series of messages regarding
backups, I tried restoring one of the backed up files, and it worked.
What am I missing? Why do I need to backup to the hard drive and then burn
that to CD?
Thank you for helping me to understand.
Marie

Jan,
You should just do a backup of the Family File and then burn that backup
over to the CD. That way, you'll have all the necessary associated files in
one neat bundle with the main Family File. The backup file has the
extension of .zip.
I hope RW disks are more reliable than they used to be....
Thanks for using Legacy.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Which files do I back up on CD-RW?
I backed up my Legacy files to a CD-RW. Now I've added more information and
would like to back it up over what I have saved on the CD-RW. When I use
my CD Creator and open my Legacy Data file, there are choices of family.fdb,
family.FG, family.TC, and family.zip. Should I chose all of these or just
certain ones? When using a CD-RW do I need to do anything to the Legacy
file that is already on it before saving the new one?
Thank you.
