You can NOT leave both Family name and Given Name blank in Legacy. It is common when you do research in 1500's that you find notices that some ones wife died at a given point without any given name.

I would love to leave them blank how can I do that?

Glen has a good suggestion. One thing to think about - if you put any type
of "unknown" designator in a field and you wish to send a book report to
another researcher with the option "Insert Underlines for Missing..."
selected, then those fields *won't* get flagged because there's something in
there.

Thanks for using Legacy.

I think the convention of using [---?---] or [____] was recommended on the
FTM message boards. It allowed showing something in reports for the
unknowns. FTM didn't have an option to include blank lines like Legacy.
