Try this: As stated: Go to "search and replace" (in the menu "search") and in "find where" choose surname, given names, or the like, and in "find what" type [---?---] or what you want to replace and in "replacement text", position the cursor in box and then just hit the space bar once. It will do a replacement with nothing.
