As a result I use the Roots Web site, SS death index, and the California death index. They are limited in scope and I just wondered if there were better, but free ones. I am familiar with some message boards and have been pleasantly surprised by answers to some of my questions, but it's rare that I get anything. I only do active searches once in awhile and so it is not cost efficient for me to join Ancestry or other pay sites. Anyway, maybe some suggestions beyond the above?
