Sue The topic of read receipts comes up frequently. Some people like to have them set on their machine and others don't. That is a choice. But there are only one or two per day on this list that ask for a receipt. And all it takes is to click the word "no". All so simple.
We all work differently and surely don't have to be coerced into acting like clones of some mythical standard user - certainly not by this technique. If you belong to other lists you will find that the list service removes the request before the emails get sent on and I still feel that is the better way to deal with the issue. A lot of the people on this list are completely ignorant about proper etiquette-otherwise they wouldn't send every damn post with a return reciept demand. They obviously can not be made to understand that function was NEVER meant to be used on a mailing list. There is absolutely no reason you need to know if every single person on this list read your posts. TURN IT OFF when posting here!! I wish the list administration would ban the people who insist on using read reciepts here. That is extremely poor etiquette.
