I'm curious - what mail client are you using? While I agree that requesting receipts on a mailing list is rather silly (and something that could be filtered by the list owner), it also seems to come up here rather frequently for some people. I have the option in my software of responding to receipt requests automatically, or ignoring them completely; wondering if one of those options might make life more pleasant?

A lot of the people on this list are completely ignorant about proper etiquette-otherwise they wouldn't send every damn post with a return reciept demand. They obviously can not be made to understand that function was NEVER meant to be used on a mailing list. There is absolutely no reason you need to know if every single person on this list read your posts. TURN IT OFF when posting here!! I wish the list administration would ban the people who insist on using read reciepts here. That is extremely poor etiquette.
