One of my long -outstanding beefs about Legacy is its poor searching ability. I have given up trying to persuade the powers that be to do something about it however.

What I do is to export my file as a gedcom - which is a simple text file and then to use an ordinary text editor to search that file. It's easy enough then to see which record numbers are involved and then to go back to legacy if I need formatted information - or simply read it from the Gedcom if not.
