No, that doesn't work (unless I'm missing something). I want one straight line from a set of great-grandparents to me -- without all the other descendants. I can edit out all the other descendants, but why bother when I can use FTM to create an outline descendant tree with the option to cut out all extraneous relatives. I use this to show "cousins" how I descend from the same people they do. This is what Legacy gives me: 1-Nicolas ROY b. Circa 25 May 1639, St-Rémy, Dieppe, Rouen, Normandie, France, d. Circa 1691, La Durantaye, Bellechasse, Québec, Canada +Jeanne LELIEVRE b. Circa 22 March 1634, St-Rémy, Dieppe, Rouen, Normandie, France, d. Circa 11 January 1728, St-Vallier, Bellechasse, Québec, Canada, m. February 1658, Honfleur, Rouen, Normandie, France . . 2-Louis ROY b. Circa 26 November 1658, St-Rémy, Dieppe, Rouen, Normandie, France, d. 5 June 1705, Hôtel- Dieu de Québec, Québec, Canada . . +Marie LEDRAN b. Circa 27 January 1666, Québec, Québec, Québec, Canada, d. Circa 13 November 1713, Beaumont, Bellechasse, Québec, Canada, m. 20 May 1682, Cap-St-Ignace, Montmagny, Québec, Canada . . . . 3-Elisabeth ROY b. 17 August 1683, Pointe-de-Lévy, Lauzon, Québec, Canada, d. 27 November 1703, Beaumont, Bellechasse, Québec, Canada . . . . 3-Marie Anne ROY b. Before 1685, an undetermined location in Québec, Canada, d. 2 December 1723, Beaumont, Bellechasse, Québec, Canada . . . . 3-Marguerite ROY b. 21 September 1688, Pointe-de-Lévy, Lauzon, Québec, Canada, d. 28 September 1688, Pointede- Lévy, Lauzon, Québec, Canada =============================== This is what I want (Direct descendants only from Nicolas ROY to me): 1 Nicolas ROY 1639 - 1691 .... +Jeanne LELIÈVRE 1633/34 - 1727/28 ........ 2 Louis ROY 1658 - 1705 .............. +Marie LEDRAN 1665/66 - 1713 ................... 3 Jean Baptiste ROY 1694 - 1764 ......................... +Marie Anne GUÉNET 1706 - ............................. 4 Marguerite ROY 1725/26 - ................................... +Étienne LACASSÉ 1725 - ........................................ 5 Marie Louise LACASSÉ 1752 - 1834 .............................................. +René PELCHAT-LAVOIE 1732 - 1821 .................................................. 6 Jean Baptiste PELCHAT 1777 - ........................................................ +Marie Angélique DENIS-LAPIERRE 1787 - ............................................................. 7 Marie Louise PELCHAT ................................................................... +Jean Baptiste BLAIS etc. ............................................................................ .........Susan Schon I don't see a way to simplify Legacy's chart -- except by editing.
