Thank you for your comments. I'll have to have a good think about it. I
like what I've seen of vs 6.0, but it just won't work on my computer.
I'm in the process of downloading vs 5.0 now as I need to get on with my
work. I'll give my repair firm a call today to see if they can throw any
light on the problem, but I really don't think it's lack of memory as
others with twice the memory I have are having the same problem. I have
no problem at all running other large applications - several at a time.
I think the problem is with Legacy. I did open a small usage application
I have and I noticed that I was only using half my RAM with Legacy and
another application going, but if I tried to open a window in Legacy,
the usage shot right up to the top, then back down again once the window
appeared. This might be the problem. Maybe the actual act of opening the
windows in Legacy uses too much RAM and causes the Run-time error crash.

Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] First problems with Legacy 6.0

I remember running Roots II in a 64KB environment
off a 5 1/4" floppy. Those were the days!

It seems that software bloat has caught up with
you. Check your newspaper's ads. Every Sunday
I check mine to see if there are any specials of
interest. Two years ago I bought 2 256MB memory
boards for less than $20USD each. Normally they
sell for 2-3 times that. Be careful to know what
type of memory you require. There are several
different types. I sold my old 2 128MB boards
for $20/pair.

Patricia,
If I were in your situation, I would go back to
v5 and ask for a refund. Or I would upgrade
my PC's memory, if I thought v6 was significantly
better for my situation.
