Creating a temporary family file will often expand Legacy's capabilities and enable performing functions not available within the one family file. For your example . . . . search for all *male* SMITHs and tag them with an unused tag. Export these tagged individuals to a new (temporary) family file and include their wives, also keep the same RINs. Now open the temporary family file and search for the MARYs. When found, make note of the RIN and locate her using that in your original file. Obviously the export function needs to be bug-free for this to work.
