Thanks to everyone who offered advice. I have another question about
pictures. I have many family group pictures. Rather crop these and attach
individual faces to individuals, I'd like for some way to attach a picture
to a family group. Is there any way to do this?
BTW, the documentation says you can highlight multiple individuals in the
Picture Center and attach them all at once. This does not work. The Ctrl
button doesn't work, to highlight multiple items at once.
Thanks, Matt

Hi Matt,
I keep an archive copy of scans saved as tiffs in folders (or CDs) named
to reflect where the photos are stored or were borrowed. I include a code
for this in the filename. I save as tif as it's a non-lossy format and I
can go back and re-edit without having to re-scan when my editing skills
improve. I always keep the original scan and add an "i" for "improved" to
the filename code for a copy I've digitally enhanced. :-)
I then make a smaller "screen-sized" copy in jpg format with the same
filename and save these in Family Folders under Legacy Pictures. These are
the ones I attach to Legacy.
Most Legacy uses of pictures don't require a large picture. Screen Sized
is more than enough. I stay with Screen Sized as this gives a nice Legacy
Slider Show or Slide shows using other programs.
Keeping the same filename (at least the code part - I'm not as consistent
with further description but keep the filename under 60 characters as
there is a limit to filename length when cutting to CD) means that I can
always find my larger archived copy quickly.
If you haven't checked out the Legacy tips for Pictures at
http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/tips.asp
it's well worth doing.
You can get there from the Legacy Home Tab - Support box - Tips from the
Experts. Lots of excellent stuff there, including on pictures.
Hope that helps,
Cathy

I have just begun to scan documents and historical photos to associate
with my Legacy database. Can experienced users suggest the best way to
organize these photos and documents? What file system do you use?
Thanks,
