That's sort of what I thought, too, especially since Ancestry 
and RootsWeb are now so closely aligned.  I don't envy you 
your task, but it will go a lot faster than you can imagine.  
 
It is an annoyance to visitors to see the word "Living" in an 
online tree, when it is so obvious the person couldn't possibly 
be as stated.  It looks like sloppy work, even when one knows 
(from personal experience) how that happened, and that it was 
not the doing or intent of the author.  I applaud your efforts to 
perfect the output on RootsWeb, and hope you will be personally 
pleased with the outcome as well. -- Alice

Ancestry gets a lot of information from RootsWeb. I find that my  data
has appeared there without my consent. I believe it's a condition  of
placing your file on RootsWeb. So I'm sure that if it works to  place
"deceased" in your files, and they work on Ancestry, it should work  on
RootsWeb. I have seen data marked as "deceased" on  RootsWeb.
