Hi Bob,
Using Ctrl-c will copy your highlighted text to the Windows
Clipboard. No need to use Ctrl-x (cut) and then re-paste.
In addition I use a program called Clipmate from Thornsoft that
captures everything from the Windows Clipboard. You can then paste at
your leisure - or choose to keep things in Clipmate which functions
as a freeform database with good search facility. It has other neat
features like the ability to capture part of the screen, have
encrypted clips to keep passwords etc safe but accessible, strip HTML
etc ... I'm reminded how much I rely on it as I've just set up a new
computer and found it was one of the first programs I installed.

If I want the info to remain at the first location, then I
block, hit Ctrl-x and then Ctrl-v to immediately paste it back in. It is
now in the Windows clipboard as well and I can paste it in as many places as
I want. You can even go to the Clipboard and edit the text if desired. And
once in the Windows Clipboard, you can even save the data out to a separate
text file. This is especially useful if you get a notes field that ends up
full of "junk" but has some good stuff scattered throughout. (headers from a
word processor, or leftover HTML, or whatever).
