Ron, If you enter the phrase "say 1900" for a date, Legacy changes it to "Est 1900". So that seems to me to be a form of support. [I am using Legacy 5.0.]
And Jonathan is right, you can't search for a date that "contains" anything, like Est, which is too bad as that would be a handy search criteria for other parts of dates, in my opinion.
