I believe that common courtesy would disallow the use of acronyms in
these messages? To make someone go to a website to translate a message
is imposing on others. I am a senior, as many listers are, not a 20 year
old using a handheld device to connect with my buddies. If the message
contains acronyms I simply delete without reading and continue on.

gc,
That would be would be nice. Unfortunately as handheld devices become
more
popular, there is an increase in the usage of acronyms. This
increased
usage seems to find its way into other aspects of one's life,
including
emails.
Fortunately, most of the acronyms being used do not cause a
misunderstanding
of the message being delivered. However it can be a distraction
trying to
figure the blasted things out. The suggested web site was for those
who
wish to translate the acronyms without pulling their hair out in
frustration<G>.

Hey - I have a novel suggestion..... Why don't we all just use plain
ol'
ENGLISH instead of all this cutesy short hand stuff! Then,
presumedly,
all of us could understand what's being said or alluded to and not
have
to go to some web site to figure out what somebody was trying to
say!!!
