Seriously, though Kate, I think the way the Death Cause thing
is handled by being entered onto a special area in the Medical
notes is one of the worst Kludges in Legacy!!! Just being honest folks!
(Kludge is defined as an awkward way of doing something as in
a Rube-Goldberg scheme)
When I first started using Legacy the Death Cause threw me too.
Then I read the manual that came with Release 4 that I started and
went through the DVD videos and somewhere in that those Millennia
explained the Kludge somewhat and I figured out what was going on.
But for a while I was quite frustrated with it as I have the impression
that you were too.
Hopefully by the time you read this things will have calmed down.
I'm not trying to open an old wound. Just trying to support a new
person on the list, that she's not the only one who found the way
Cause of Death is handled was counter-intuitive to say the least.
John,
From the Legacy Help file, if you type "cause of death" you get:
Medical Notes
Record medical information about an individual. The window also includes a
field to specify the cause of death for the person. Many sources include
this piece of information.
All Rights Reserved
IMHO, that seems pretty clear to me. I do not think it is a Kludge (your
word). If your ancestor died from a medical condition, the medical cause of
death should be entered here. If he was hit by a truck and died, you would
enter that in death notes.
