Jim,

I use "Cemetery, City, County, State, Country" also, but I have been putting
the actual address in the "Burial Notes" so that I have it somewhere. I
don't want it to print on the reports.

You suggested using the double brackets, but I'm not sure where you were
doing this - "Burial Notes" or are you referring to the "Notes" on the
"Add/Edit Location" window, or someplace else?

This has been one of those things that I keep going back and forth on for
the following reasons:
    1. I like the name of the hospital/cemetery to show up
    2. I want the data short enough to print on reports/charts
    3. I want my data to be clean for transferring via GEDCOM

If I put the full information in the "Long Location Name" without
abbreviations, then I am using the 5 fields which sometimes causes problems
with GEDCOMs. If I use the "Short Location Name" with abbreviations, then I
might be causing problems for people who don't know what the abbreviations
mean. I remember a previous post on this list from someone requesting a
third location option for "Report/Chart Location Name". I guess that might
solve my problem too.

Then I add the address for the local site with the local site in
double brackets so it doesn't print. I normally do not print the
addresses in reports but when I do a report for a fellow researcher,
the addresses are printed without repeating the local site name.
Gedcoms are tricky in that some other programs can import the
addresses and others can't - but this way all other programs do get
the local site included in the place name.
