Just a small point but in the UK GRO Registrations an unknown child is identified as "baby" eg Baby Smith. If known sex can be identified by using Mr (Master if preferred) or Miss in the title box.
I have never come across "Baby" in any GRO Index, but I have seen numerous instances of Male and Female.
