I use a slightly different system to many others. I enter the earliest
known surname and add the prefix "Mrs."

So if Elizabeth married John SMITH then Albert JONES, then she would
be listed as Mrs Elizabeth SMITH.

At least that way, something useful appears in any indexes on names.

I also state this, and other conventions in the introduction to any
report. I don't think it matters too much what system you adopt, so
long as you state what it is, and follow it consistantly.

The only problem I can see with my approach is that, if she was also a
Doctor, or Lady, then the use of the "Mrs" prefix would get in the
way, but I'm guessing that it's unlikely that one wouldn't be able to
find out the maiden name of such a titled person.

"infant" seems like good practice to me.

Since the relationship between the siblings is through, at least, one
parent, then there must be a parent in the database. Perhaps one with
a given name such as "Father of Albert and Ethel".
