In 6.0 you can do: options>customize>data format>letter case of surnames, select "initial caps" and then press APPLY and it will re-set all the surnames to initial caps. Except for the "Mc" names, the balance of the name will still be in allcaps.

Does anyone have a decent fix for those?

You want the box above the one you are referring to -"Letter Case of Surnames". In version 5 (assuming 6 is same): options>customize>data format>letter case of surnames, select "intial caps" and save. Then (if so desired) go back in and change to "Don't change what I enter".

Subject: [LegacyUG] autocomplete names capitalized

I cannot find this in the archives, so here goes:

Before I knew better, I capitalized all my surnames. Now, no matter what I do, Legacy autocompletes them in capitals. (In the Options-Customize-Data Format-Displaying Surnames the box for Show SURNAMES in uppercase letters is NOT checked.) The only way I can find to undo this is to go to each surname individually, add the name in lower case after the uppercase version, then backspace to remove the uppercase version. This is extremely tedious, and doesn't solve the problem of future entries. Even now, every time I try to add a new person with a surname I had previously entered in caps, it shows
up in caps.

Is there a way to remove these old, erroneous autocompletes?
Is there a way to change all my surnames at once to Upper/Lower case?
Remember, this is NOT a matter of unchecking the box.

Many thanks in advance,

Dee Whiting
