I also do this. When I receive an email with strong clues and new information, I save to a family folder by SURNAME. Sometimes I copy to my genealogy program or make a collection of emails regarding a surname and save in the family folder on my hard drive.
What do people do with photos, documents etc that are scanned? How does one organize all this stuff on the computer?
