Thanks for mentioning this, Jan. I would also like to be able to customize the AKA sentence like you can do with event sentences. I would have one sentence for the nickname AKAs, such as, "Elizabeth was called Lizzie by her close friends," and another for the spelling and married name variants. For example, "Elizabeth M. Jones was listed in various sources as Lizzie Jones, Elizabeth Johns, Mrs. John Jones, Eliz. Jones, etc."

Subject: RE: [LegacyUG] AKAs and brackets with error 5 reports

I agree it would be nice to have the option for each individual - or rather
for each AKA. For searching purposes I like to make a married name AKA for all women, but I don't really want that to print as "Another name for ....." But in instances where there has been an actual name change, such as by Deed
Poll, or where someone was routinely known by a nickname, I would like
reports to read "Another name for ..." - although come to think of it, I'd
really prefer " ..... was also known as ....". As it is now, we have to
have all AKAs printing, or none.

Cheers,
Jan

I record name errors in the source references. The person was never "Also
Known As". Examples for my grandfather whose name was Samuel.

Sam - AKA
Samul - Misspelled by census taker
Sone - As recorded by Ancestry due to very poor census taker's handwriting

The only time I need the last two, is when someone goes back looking for the
source.
