I agree with your thinking, Dennis. Whilst it seems to me that it is
essential for Legacy to include standard report and chart types it is surely
not possible for all the variations on a particular to be included in one
program and these should be stand alone and I include DNA in this.
What is important, however, is that the basic reports work properly and are
bug free. This is not the case at present as we see from this forum. My own
biggest problem is with web page creation. The two main bugs in the html
have been pointed out several times but nothing has been done to correct
them. I note also that you have pointed out some bugs in reports over the
years and I think some of these still need to be corrected.
Surely priority should be given to getting the basics to work properly first
before trying to expand the scope of the program.

I believe add-on programs are the way to go for features like certain
reports that not everyone needs. Book reports for example. Or an add-on
that produces web-pages. These kinds of tasks kind of stand on their own
... i.e. they don't update the db or interact with Legacy's primary
functions. I don't know enough about research guidance (since I don't
use it), but maybe that could have been a candidate for an add-on? Maybe
not.
