Hi Nick,
When streamlining your sources, the first thing to do is to be clear
on the difference between a Master Source and a Source Detail.
If your paper copy is filed with a reference number and that number
is entered in Legacy in either the Master Source File ID or Source
Detail File ID (whichever is appropriate), there's no problem finding
the paper again quickly.
Another thing is to be aware of how Legacy works. If the Source
Detail is identical down to the last comma and space, then it only
prints once in your Source list in a report how ever many times it is
referenced in the report. Using the Source Clipboard is the way to
ensure the Source Detail is identical.
The next is to be aware of your audience. Sourcing is vital to your
work. It may not be vital to your families reading your findings. I
used to provide a lot of source information in reports. Now I only
print the Master Sources for most reports. If people want more
information they can ask. Saves a lot of paper that was mostly
ignored. It shows you have got sources - and people could follow them
up without reference to you even though you haven't provided the
exact reference.
Have fun,
Cathy

I'm relatively new at this but cannot find a way to
steamline my sources. The way I do it now, mostly by
instinct, makes for an ugly and redundant individual
report. The only way I can make that more neat is to
drop sources all together, not what I had in mind.
Also, I would like my source citations to come as
close to the "standard" as possible. I read these
postings with hope and anticipation.
