Yes, we changed part of the API of the lfDatabase class. The old API is marked as deprecated but will still exist for backwards compatibility. BTW: The next release of Lensfun will include more API changes. The API had some serious limitations which prohibited the implementation of important future features. We will try to maintain and keep the old API as a compatibility layer but this will not be possible for every aspect of Lensfun. We know that this is not ideal but at a certain point it was necessary to think about changing the public API.
