I don't subscribe to lfs-chat, nor am I about to.

Anyone can write anything they want
to in a publication, be it fiction or be not.

This is a wholly incorrect statement. Ever heard of the word 'libel'?

From m-w.com:
"2 a : a written or oral defamatory statement or representation that conveys an unjustly unfavorable impression b (1) : a statement or representation published without just cause and tending to expose another to public contempt (2) : defamation of a person by written or representational means (3) : the publication of blasphemous, treasonable, seditious, or obscene writings or pictures (4) : the act, tort, or crime of publishing such a libel"

See the word crime there?

(Note that I'm not accusing the PC Magazine article of being libelous, I'm just responding to the completely ridiculous statement above.) You can't publish as fact to the world information that is false, misleading and defamatory.
