Hello all, I've just been trying to compile apache's mod_perl on x86_64. The compile failed like so:
/usr/bin/ld: /usr/lib/perl5/5.12.0/x86_64-linux/CORE/libperl.a(op.o): relocation R_X86_64_32S against `PL_sv_yes' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC /usr/lib/perl5/5.12.0/x86_64-linux/CORE/libperl.a: could not read symbols: Bad value collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make[1]: *** [mod_perl.so] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/andy/mod_perl-2.0.4/src/modules/perl' make: *** [modperl_lib] Error 2 andy:~/mod_perl-2.0.4$ To solve the problem I had to recompile perl and add the option -Duseshrplib to the end of the Configure options. (The google found the solution here http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg25728.html ) Should -Duseshrplib be added to the book?
