Just a thought on this one. In the test suite for gcc, it still states that
2 tests fail because /etc/hosts doesn't exist and iana-etc hasn't been
installed. Any reason to not do that before gcc? iana-etc is installed a
few packages after gcc and /etc/hosts is created in the build of perl to
prevent test failures.
