boot in 30 seconds - tick (nearly 2 minutes in slack)

...

One happy camper!
I'm looking for fast boot times: do you (or anybody else) have any
tips? Thanks,

Tony

Very strange how people believe LFS = fast boot times

The reason a base LFS will boot faster than an out of the box distro is normally becase
a.) the kernel is compiled for the drivers you want only
b.) the initial base software of LFS includes very little compared to a full production ready out of the box distro with NFS, Samba, ssh, portmapper, ntp, badley configured mail clients that have to time out because the user is an idiot, etc etc
c.) some of the box distros have all the eyecandy like bootsplashes.

Disable all this in anyout of the box distro, and you'll find it boots much quicker.

the "boot faster" and "runs faster" comment always amazes me.
