Hello, I am trying to use Lib3ds to load 3DS models for my raytracer but I can't get the normals to work properly. As I understand it a 3DS file provide one normal per face and then I have to use "lib3ds_mesh_calculate_normals" to get a normal per vertex. However when I use this function I still see the faces of my model - my scene is just a sphere created in Max. Even if I use the 3DS viewer provided with lib3ds sources the shading is not smooth.
I am wondering if I am not using the library properly or if there is some options in 3DS that I didn't enable.
