Well, this sounds familiar to what I originally had - that the app
can't stream with out-of-band. while ffmpeg command line can. I'm
going to look at this once again.

Probably they don't update it as frequently as the Windows one.

Well, I never tried it on Linux Real Player, but on Windows Real
Player, and on mobile it works fine. Can you try it on Windows?
