[An evil snicker] I went to usenetserver.com and simply downloaded the messages which appeared in Liberty Northwest during the time I had my hard drive out on the workbench. > I believe also, that I noticed earlier this morning on the other > machine, downloading via POP3 via netaddress.com that all > messages I sent out on the usnetsever.com server last night > migrated across okay to the email side, although I'll have to go > back and check later today to be sure. According to spokane.admin, the last time Brian exercised his cancel-bot was back in August of 2004, if I recall correctly. I don't know if that means he isn't serving that function anymore or if it simply is broken. I simply use Cleanfeed to keep my news server clean, as the other way is much too convoluted for my simple (ton) tastes. Once in a great while one or two SPAM messages will creep through, but very seldom. In fact, I can always tell when the news feed is bringing in stuff to spk.* and used_kharma.* because Cleanfeed has a fit cleaning up the undesirable stuff. Of course, the really BIG boys, like webusenet, newsguys and all the other national news servers don't have the inclination nor the processors to clean up news, so that leaves it to the little fish, like me, to keep the news clean. > You've done an outstanding job keeping spk.* alive, and perhaps > growing, and with Bill's gateway from the list side, > spk.liberty_nw is a reasonable alternative for those wishing to > communicate to and from Liberty Northwest from usenet again. > That has been a long time in coming since that interface was > jerked by Rocky many years ago. [positively EVIL grin] Please remember what you just said the next time the damned connection between Kharma and Usenetserver suddenly goes away. Sometimes even I don't understand why it dies, but things happen.
